Meet Jennifer Miesch, pH.D.,

Licensed Psychologist (She/her)

You don’t have to just survive.

You can learn to thrive, even in challenging situations.

You are insightful and high-achieving but you’re struggling with confidence, navigating how to cope with stress and anxiety, or prioritizing taking care of your own needs.

You’re in the right place.

I’m here to help you gain insight and make real change.

I help insightful adults just like you: ones that have it within them to feel peaceful, content, and fulfilled — but just need the support to get there.

I help my clients learn to believe in themselves and find meaning, purpose, and joy by equipping them with the tools they need to better understand themselves, their core values, and what they think is getting in their way.

Many of today’s solutions for stress, anxiety, and unhappiness are based in toxic positivity and impossible expectations that lead so many to feel hopeless when negative and anxious thoughts and difficulties inevitably arise. Being a human is hard, and you can gain a better understanding of how your brain and body work, why we are wired toward fear and negativity, and how your unique circumstances got you to where you are today.

We will look at your strengths, core values, and what you want to be doing differently. Then we will examine patterns and behaviors that are causing difficulties in your life and what is getting in the way. Together we make a plan for what will be most effective for you. Through that work, you will learn the skills you need to cope with life’s inevitable difficulties, and how to truly care for yourself.

What’s it like to work together?

I believe that learning how to care for yourself helps you show up as your best self in all the areas of your life.

Our culture of endless expectations offers little reprieve and at times we can all feel very alone and very tired, professionally and personally, particularly if we are caregivers. As a therapist, I see myself in your corner, on your team, supporting you. Sometimes that means I am there to listen, sometimes it means I’m there to challenge how you see yourself, and sometimes it means I’m there to provide the care that you haven’t found elsewhere in your life. We often need reminders to nurture our relationships both with our loved ones and with ourselves, and mindfulness and self compassion can provide a foundation to help us do that with gratitude and also while recognizing our own suffering and challenges. I also teach the skills you need to do what needs to be done even when it feels difficult.

I primarily use mindfulness and self-compassion practices along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also work from a feminist/multicultural and client-centered framework. All of this means that I believe you are the expert in your life and your values guide our work, and we will work together to determine the approach that will be the best fit for you and your needs.
